This is a series of pins that Victor Pereyra makes using .999 silver. As you are aware, sterling is .925 and pure silver is .999. Because these broaches / pins are made from pure silver, they will not tarnish as easily as sterling silver since sterling has a copper alloy in it which causes the metal to tarnish over time. Being pure silver, it makes it easier for Victor to work with this material. All of these pins are hand made designs using repousee’ stamping. As you can see from the detail work, much attention is paid to things like feathers on each bird. The metal is soft, but not so soft that it can not be used in jewelry. Each clasp that he has attached to the design is made of 925, sterling silver, which gives it a secure pin and clamp. Therefore, the 925 stamp on each design is not indicative of the silver content of the pin itself, but rather of the clasp that is attached to each piece.
Inspired by nature, Victor makes these beautiful pins of butterflies, birds, and William Spratling style dragon flies. These pieces are true hand wrought works of art that are reasonably priced. Each pin is signed “Victor”.
